Charles Kelley is a seasoned attorney with more than 30 years of experience representing individuals, small businesses, and creditors in complex bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters. Based in Gainesville, Georgia—where he was born and raised—Charles returned to his hometown to begin practicing law in 1993 and has since built a reputation for skilled, strategic advocacy in both consumer and business bankruptcy cases.
Charles holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech and earned his J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law. Before entering law, he worked with the Georgia Tech Research Institute and IBM, bringing a strong analytical and systems-based perspective to his legal practice.
His bankruptcy practice spans a wide range of matters including Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13 cases, adversary proceedings, preference and fraudulent transfer litigation, and disputes involving secured creditors, executory contracts, and trustees. Charles is a recognized leader in the bankruptcy community. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, and he serves on the board of the Southeastern Bankruptcy Law Institute. He is frequently invited to speak at continuing legal education seminars on issues affecting small business bankruptcies and insolvency litigation.
